Back in time (The 1980’s) it used to be said that every country in the world could make a decent lager EXCEPT England. So here we are 30 years later.....330ml can into lager glass. Subdued hop aroma, crystal clear golden amber beer with thin solid white head and a steady stream of fine bubbles. Full body, flat mouthfeel, fruity finish. A bit too sweet and doughy for my tastes but it IS a decent lager.

330ml bottle. Clear pale golden colour with a thing white head that totally disappears within a few seconds. Aroma is citrusy, almost tropical fruity, grassy hops, herbs. Taste follows suit with citrusy hops, malt, some herbs or spices. Not much bitterness to speak of. Honestly it’s not a bad effort from Fuller’s, not fantastic by any means but for a lager it’s actually pretty good. Refreshing.

33cl Bottle from Vonk. Clear deep golden colour, white head. Aroma of soft honey notes, light floral/blossom, lemon peel, light malty. Flavour follows, soft hoppiness, some sherbet, hint of grain, soft bitter finish. Light bodied. Not very outspoken but nice and well-made.

Bottle bought at the Brewey. The beer starts malty with hints of grain. Round and smooth but not too intense. Smooth, mild and a bit grain in the aftertaste. Hints of bitterness, crisp, round and ok.

Keg at the Three Guineas, Reading. Deep gold. Fizz is rather prickly and aggressive for my liking. Once past the fizz though there was some sweet maltiness balanced against dry lemon, a little lime and a light grassy bitterness in the crisp, clean finish. I’m normally no fan of lagers but this is certainly one of the less bad ones. Quite drinkable actually.

On tap at the North Street Standard, Bristol 4/12/2015. Golden in colour, with moderate fizziness and a slight, white, head. Pleasant lager, with some solid malts, hint of citrus fruit and decent, bitter, finish. Fine.
