Dark old ale with a warm, soft, malty initial flavour. Chocolate malt adds a powerful high roast finish complimented by the pleasing aroma from Goldings hops.

Cask at The Gordon Highlander. It pours clear deep brown - black with a a well apointed tan head. The aroma is soft, sweet, good depth of dark fruits, rather jammy, toasted malt, roasty, earth and toasted nut. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, toasted nut, wood, dark fruits, fruit cake, roasted malt, malt loaf, touch of umami and liquorice. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Nice depth of flavour. Tasty and moreish. Good condition helps!

On tap somewhere! Clear red brown beer. Light dry palate. Faint hint of soap. Then a good mix of fruit and nuts. Apple, toffee, hazlenuts. Finishes semi dry and with a little hop bitterness.

Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford. Dark ruby in colour with a thin tan head; sweet and rich chocolate malt aroma; the body is thiiner than I expected; the flavour is dry, milky chocolate at first, then sweeter; leading to a gently bitter finish, leaving an aftertaste of chocolate and coffee grounds.

Cask gravity at Nottingham BF 2007. Very dark brown, thick lasting head. Good mix of malt, milk choc and hop. Toasty without being over the top. Very drinkable, good smooth, but toasty mouthfeel. Nice strong dark beer.
