As it matures in the bottle, St Cuthbert becomes drier, allowing bitterness and alcoholic strength to come to the fore. A heady floral aroma is immediately apparent on pouring. Peachy fruit notes and a moderate bitterness linger on the palate long after enjoying a draught.

Bottle from Drink of Fulham. Cloudy orange pour with a white head that doesn’t stick around for long. Floral nose with hints of caramel, citrus and light hops. Flavours of orange marmalade, pineapple, caramel, banana, cloves. Quite fruity. Sharp hop burst in the finish.

Cask at GBBF 2009. Gold, lasting thin off white head. Interesting strong English blond. Pretty tasty. Some lemon, rose petal flavour. Pretty good to be honest. Bit of earthyness on the hops.

From the Real Ale in a Bottle Bar at GBBF 09. Medium sized, white head over a plain golden body. Sweet malty aroma added by dark spices. The flavour can be described as an interplay of succulent fruits and caramel malts. Some mild honey hints behind it all. On the sweet side of bittersweet to the ending. Medium bodied and with a fine drinkability (Earls Court, hotel room, 07.08.2009).

Bottle, Ale Cellar, Darlington. Poured a slightly hazy golden colour with a decent rocky head. Fruity hop aroma with some yeast. Flavour had the same elements and was fragrant and sweetish. Hoppy bitter finish. Good balance. Very nice indeed.

Hazy golden color; big frothy head, persistent. Dubious aroma, with paper, wet soil, country fields and grass, glue; then grassy hops. Medium body strength, but quite dry mouthfeel; it has a dry toffee flavor that along with the strong bitterness creates the effect of liquorice, mainly at the end. Strongly hopped, but not impressive.

Bottle picked up at Londis, Goring, Oxon, had this 27-01-08 Pours light golden with some haze topped off with a big white bubbly head. Great hop profile on the nose. Tasted fruity and hoppy with a streaky honey sweetness, quite floral also. Tasted great, Durham seem to consistently knock out some cracking beers. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0 Had this again Bottle courtesy of Peter Fowler, Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage, Oxon consumed 21.03.12 Cheers Peter Pours amber with white head lightly floral nose. Bitterness is quite lovely, its certainly reigned in by a nice bed of sweet maltiness but it is still lovely, good fruity flavours with a raspy sweet citrus bite. I still note a light honeyness, it is a great beer maybe not quite the 4.0 but still great. A7 A4 T8 P8 Ov16 3.9
