1st December 2009
Pigs Ear. Very dark brown beer. Transparent at the edges. Light smoky malt. Light semi dry palate. Lightly toasted malt. A very slightly fruity tang. Finishes dry and fruity. Not bad, very light.

Cask. A golden beer with no head. The aroma has notes of malt and diacethyl. The flavo ris sweet with notes of malt and diacehtyl, leading to a dry finish.

Gravity cask at the Pig’s Ear. Black-brown pour with faint, bubbly head. Dark, roasted malt aroma, some faint fruits. Hard malts in the flavor, somewhat medicinal, roasty, with some tobacco and char bitters. Light to medium in body. Char and roast finish, lightly sweet. Not bad, but the flavor had some weirdnes.

(Cask at GBBF London Earl’s Court, 4 Aug 2010) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of dried fruit, chocolate and coffee. Roasted, malty, slightly fruity taste with dried fruit, raisins, chocolate, dark bread, coffee, toffee and a mild bitterness in the finish. Medium body, fairly sweet. Quite nice.

Cask (gravity) @ Smithfield Hotel, 37 Swan St, Manchester, Greater Manchester England M4 5JZ.Clear medium amber color with a small, fizzy - virtually none, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is light moderate malty, toasted, caramel, light hoppy, fruit acidic. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft. [20100120]

Cask (GBBF 2010) - Dark brown, almost black. Roasted aroma with hints of coffee and chocolate. The taste also features coffee and chocolate along with roasted malt. Nicely balanced.

Cask@GBBF2010. Very deep ambery brown colour with small off-white head. Aroma is liquorice, roasted malts, some ashes as well as dark dry fruits. Flavour is much the same. Pleasantly balanced.

From cask. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malt, light liqourice and breadish. Dark malty, roasted and mild acidic too. Ends dry and liqourice note.

Cask. Clear amber golden with an off-white head. Sweetish aroma of honey and fruit. Medium body, fruit, nuts and caramel. Surprisingly warming alcohol - appears stronger than 4%. 200110
