500ml bottle. Pours black in colour with a biege foam head and aroma of chocolatey roast malt. Taste is roasted malt, smokey, ash, with molasses, chocolate, dark fruits and earthy bitterness. Mouthfeel seems alittle thin, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roast bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Handpull cask at the Organ Grinder, Loughborough. Black, opaque with a tight khaki head. Dark chocolate, charcoal and liquorice aroma. Taste is pleasantly bitter leading to an almost tart chalky finish. A simple but well-made stout that probably won't change your life but it's worth a try...

Very dark but clear stout with a thin beige head. Aroma is fruity alcohol and coffee. Flavour starts off as bitter coffee but in quite a mellow way. There’s a fruitiness to it which levels the thing out a touch, with bitter dark chocolate underpinning the flavour and the coffee lingers well after the other flavours have gone. Not only very drinkable but due to the strength and not being as overbearing as some of these beers can be it’s almost a session stout as well.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Very dark but not black with a thin off-white creamy head. There’s a hint of sugar sweetness within its otherwise medium roasted malt-aroma and taste.
