7% abv. Malted barley. A cousin to our India Double Porter, but fermented with lager yeast at low temperatures to smooth some of the rough edges. Another lager beer born out of the Coronavirus lockdown of 2020.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. 7.1%. Sits almost black in the glass, with a stunningly dense, glossy topped, lasting, lacing, pale tan, creamy head. If I could give 6 for appearance, I would. Nose has tar. Pontefract cakes. Leather. Whiff of wood smoke. Taste has a light, hedgerow fruit sweetness, turning full on, burnt and dry bitterness. Super smooth mouthfeel. Full bodied. Fine carbonation. Super lengthy bitterness to finish. Well surprised at the overall rates for this.

Bottles from Cork & Cask and Against The Grain. Black body with a beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of rust, coffee beans and chocolate sponge. Flavour of blueberry and ash. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Strong and rich. It’s very good but I prefer strong dark beers with a degree more sweetness and complexity.

Bottle with Nick at his place in London (closet-cellared for about eight or nine months). Pours dark brown with a medium, off-white head. Roasted cocoa and malts on the nose, some chalky chocolate. Very sweet flavor, cocoa and chocolate malts, some dry roast and mild chocolate syrup. Medium in body with fine carbonation. Warmish finish with more roasted malts, cocoa, some dark and lightly burnt brown sugar, burnt malts. Great beer.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a small off-white head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and some caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and caramel, leading to a dry roasted finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
