Backlog March 2011. Unclear golden body under a big off-white head. Aroma is light malty with some fruit, caramel and some kind of unpleasant sourness. Taste is unpleasant with acid, paint remover and mothballs. Practically undrinkable.

Bottle. Thanks Will. Interesting, grassy hops, little bit of maltiness. Nice enough but unsurprisingly underwhelming.

18/12/2018. Bottle from Jumbo Costanera Centre, Santiago. Pours pale amber with a huge foamy off-white head from a bottle that kept giving. Aroma of sweet malt, toffee, grain, light fruit and a little milky chocolate. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation.

Super old bottle bought from the final days of Masuyo (now closed). Drank one week before best buy date. Heineken-like skunky nose with some light grain and pepper. Taste is well-balanced and rather light-bodied, but refreshing. Good bitterness on the finish with some white pepper. Not bad for being almost a year and a half old. --- Beer merged from original tick of Rubia Al Vapor on 05 Mar 2016 at 20:07 - Score: 6. Original review text: Old but still good hops!

Bottle from Isetan Kyoto. Amber-orange color, quite cloudy, with a tall, fine head and evident carbonation. Very rich, malty nose, caramel, a bit of fudge. Almost more like a dunkel in the nose. Sweet malt, minerals, caramel, peaches, something a bit astringent, light hop flavor, then decent bitterness. Rather dirty in the malt area, yeasty, seems like they used extract. Not convincing. Heavy and cloying.

Rubia al Vapor, quite a nice looking pour - a deep cloudy honey amber with a thick beige creamy head with no lacing but a creamy film floating atop the beer. Malty and fruity aroma, not bad. Medium bodied with a spritzy carbonation. The taste is surprisingly bitter, malts, nuts, some fruitiness maybe occasional subtle hints of fusel. Not too surprising as this beer seems to have been made in February - the height of the Chilean summer. Overall not too shabby. My general impression is a bit more boozy than the 5.8%, nice malts, bitter caramel, a bit of fruits, reminds me of some Mikkeller beers I had ages ago... decent but california common doesn’t spring to mind. Actually as it warmed up it grew on me and became more appetizing.

Medium amber colour. Thin head. Lightly spicy aroma, with delicate maltiness. Caramel taste. Touch of yeastiness and light acidity.

Bottle, 5%. Vegetable aroma. Cloudy amber colour. Small stable white head. The flavour has some vegetable, but also a refreshing acidity. A bit of paper in the finish, but not bad.

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is phenolic and distinct hoppy. Light pine and grapefruity. Bitter, light citric and crisp hoppy. Ends dry and lingering fruity.

Bottle, from trade with fonefan. It’s an unclear, orange beer with a small, off-white head. Yeast, some sourness and a dominant fruityness on the nose. The flavor is milky sour and quite fruity, lacking on bitterness, both in general and considering the style. Medium body with ok carbonation. Low on bitterness in the finish too. There’s some interesting things going on in this one, but it seems to be off, at least I hope it’s not supposed to be like this. 110330
