Bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Deep opaque brown/red-brown body, thin ring of buff carbonation. Roasty, vinous nose with strong chocolate notes. Silky body, with sweet breads, toffee, and molasses in addition to the primary chocolate, bourbon, and dry oak notes. Alcohol is evident and a tad prickly. A beautiful medley of dark malt and barrel flavors, this beer is reminiscent of Bell’s Black Note Stout, though not as rich or sweet. Very good.

750mL bottle. This was the first Firestone anniversary beer that hasn’t been hot, overly barreled, or just crappy. This is actually a subtle brew. Aroma is grainy with some faint oak and alcohol, which works well and I can handle it easily. As it warms it gets a bit more complex. Its the usually over-the-top stuff that annoys but here its subtle and balanced well. Taste is lightly sweet syrup balanced by grainy dark malts.

Dark brown. Looks flat and no head. The aroma shows lots of wood, drak malts and deep fruitiness, along with some late alcohol. Nothing really jumps out but it certainly shows promise. Very sweet, with wood, soy sauce and indistinct fruits. Lots of refined sugars. The alcohol lends not only strength but quite a bit of complexity as well.

Bottle Pours out a dark brown with some red highlights topped with a nice tan head. Aroma was of pit fruit, wood, sweet malts and some bourbon. Taste was more and then some molasses, coconut, vanilla, (Almond Joy) oak, and caramel. Good stuff I wish I had a couple more bottles to hold on to for a few years.

Bomber from Bottle Barn (months ago). Pours really dark brown with hardly any head. Dark fruit aroma - really dark. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor is heavy dark roast malt with cola, raisin, prune, treacle and lots of other things. Not to mention it’s all dominated by wood, wood, wood. Finish is dark and fruity with lots of oak. Lots of shifting flavor complexities. Hop? Well it’s bitter, but I’d almost guess floral hops - giving the oak credit for most of the bitter. The heat is hardly detectable. Even in the tum. It’s a brilliant ale.

22 oz bottle, courtesy of mreusch. Pour is a slight hazed black ruby brown with a smallish tan head that falls to bubbles pretty quickly. Aroma is mild cherry fruit with a clean alcohol smell. Pretty straight forward boozy nose. Taste is roast, bright oak wood, vanilla, evident alcohol, and a slight hint of the cherry fruit from the nose. All of the flavors are nicely integrated, and the heat doesn’t stick out too much. Palate is medium, lowish carbonation and a dry hot finish. Thanks for sharing this one Matt.
