Cask at the Goat and Tricycle, Bournemourh. Poured a clear golden brown with a light frothy head but bags of lace. No real aroma of note. The flavour is all about the malt with just a hint of bitterness that lingers for a while on the palate. A very drinkable beer it must be said, but not the kind of IPA that I was expecting. Tall brown 500ml bottle best before the end of Jan 2013: poured into my Abbot Ale glass tankard on 19th June 2012. Clear amber body with a large off-white head of bubbles on top. Malty nose for an IPA, with just a hint of floral hops to stop it being an overly sweet smelling beer. The taste is also malty: biscuit/bread more than sweeter molasses, the hops again ensure the beer isn’t just a malt flavoured brew and give the beer a pleasant semi-bitter feel throughout. The alcohol content although low suits the beer and doesn’t impair the overall flavours or taste.

Half at the Master Builder, West End. Pours clear amber with a small white head. Light malt and hoppy aroma with a little caramel. Same in flavour, light sweet and light bitter. Drinkable but thin bodied and not very exciting.

Bottle 500ml.Clear light medium yellow orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, toasted, light to moderate hoppy. Flavour is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, papery, oxidide notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120505]

Bottle from ASDA. Poured with no head but plenty of fizz. Amber in colour. Sweetish, malty aroma with the slightly sweaty, easily recognisable, Wadworth’s character. Flavour of bread malts, a touch of pear drop and a gently bitter finish. A bit underpowered, but not actively unpleasant.

Bottled. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity and some apples and mild wooden notes. Flavour is fruity, wooden, floral and some mild soapy notes. Balanced and mild, but still very pleasant for being less than 4 %.

Cask@The Alexandra Tavern, Norwich. Amber/pale copper colour with a small white head. Aroma is sweet malts, floral hops, some caramel and mild resiny notes. Flavour is fruity, wooden, floral and herbal. Quite sweet in the finish.

50cl bottle picked up in Hastings.Slightly hazy amber with a loose cream head; the aroma immediately says this is heavily over-pasteurised, full of stewed malts; the taste is of caramel malts - with nothing particularly bad or redeeming; and the finish is sticky and jammy. There are plenty of better bottled alternatives to this - try harder Wadworth.
