Notes from January 2011 Bottle gifted to me by ljkeats & shamefully passed over for a few months till this years' Thanksgiving came up on the calendar. Poured heavy-handedly into a pint-sized crystal vase-like orifice in my grandmother's cabinet. A cascade of colorful fall leaves, maple & gold, move up the glass & settle into a thin cap of off-white head. Caramelized malt, roasted nuts, & granola sweeten up initial whiff, while a bit of wood & hay bitter it up a bit. Taste is a big spot of caramelized breakfast cereal, toffee, & maybe some black tea qualities. The hops are herbal, but mild to maybe moderate in strength. A half-sticky old ale is what comes to mind as I drink this. Though it contains much better carbonation & isn't as fruity. Finally noticed that it has that Sam Smith hard/minerally water thing going for it as well. Overall, pretty nice. A bit thick & a bit seasonal(& a bit confusing), but I enjoyed it. Thank you Jeff.

Strong Ale - Other ✅

Can from TapRm (2019 edition). Pours clear dark amber-brown with red highlights against the light, large spongy beige head, faint caramel aroma, medium carbonation, medium bitter caramel taste with woodsy flavor, smooth full body, long finish. Very good brew!

Pours a rich mahogany from a tap. Somewhat cola and spicy aroma, flavor starts off with sweet cola, zips into a spicy, almost Saaz like flavor, ends on caramel. Interesting and good.

Poured from bottle copper color with a nice tan head. Aromas of rye malt spice bread. Taste is slightly sweet caramel bread spices and dark fruits. Interesting.

Bottle from Epsom Circle Market, Epsom NH. Aroma is bready malts and yeasty dough. Appearance is clear, orange brown with minimal sparkle, minimal head that quickly dissipates and negligible lacing. Taste is moderately sweet with only hint of very mild bitterness. Palate is medium bodied with slick texture, average carbonation that supports the beer but doesn’t compete for attention. Finish is long and sweet. Overall, a good representative of the style, pretty straightforward aroma and taste with pleasing enough appearance and palate.

Draft @ Ale House in Amesbury, MA. Dirty amber in color with thin white head. Nose is just caramel malt. Caramel starts of the flavors with lots of sugar and malt with just a wisp of wood. Yeast shows itself as the brew warms. I also get notes of maple syrup. Medium in body with a short clean finish. Overall, I was hoping for a bit more however, it’s not a bad brew in any aspect.

Split a 22oz bottle with friends. Poured a slightly cloudy tan/brown color with a decent amount of off-white carbonation. Aromas are sugars - malts. Not a whole lot else really. We expected something a bit "bigger" but I thought it wasn’t too bad - no oak notes and we kind of hoped that a Thanksgiving beer would be a bit more festive for the time of the year.
