A black beer brewed with roasted barley malt and challenger hops. Then freshly ground Arabica coffee beans, blended especially for Dark Star, are added to the copper for a few minutes after the boil to provide a rich and complementary coffee aroma. NOT EVERYONE’S CUP OF TEA!

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Black, medium to full-bodied with a thick frothy head. Has a fuller roasted malt aroma with coffees abundant here and in its taste.

(Cask at Angleterre, 20140129) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had coffee, toasted malts and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were coffee, pepper, toasted malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had coffee and bitterness. A well done coffee-infused brew.

Cask @ Salopian Bar. Pours dark with ruby hints, creamy mocha head. Aroma of dark chocolate, bitter roast & coffee. Taste continues, smooth & creamy with good bitter roast, and a big coffee hit.

Cask in Hengler’s Circus. Poured dark with little head. Bitter coffee taste, could benefit from a little more sweetness

Cask @ Akkurat. Heavy bitter and roasted coffee notes in aroma aswell as taste. Also some licorice. The creamy light texture smoothens and adds some drinkability. Nice!

Cask, half-pint served in a mug at Southampton Arms. Jet black body. Shiny black surface. Slightly roasted coffee malts to the nose. Taste of cold coffee grounds supported by hints of chocolate. Thin bodied. Ok, a little disappointing, though (London, 06.11.2012).
