Black color; frothy head. Interesting aroma of caramel with delicate, mature raspberries, and bread. Sweet chocolate and caramel flavor, some alcohol, light fruit character. Low bitterness. Quite crazy and very good.

On tap at Mikkeller bar. Black colour with a tan head. Aroma is oak, whiskey, roasted malt, raspberry. Flavour is oak, whiskey, coffee, licorice, raspberry, chocolate. Very nice beer.

On tap at Mikkeller. An oily pours gives a black beer topped by a minimal tan head. Woody, roasted nose, vinous, with raspberry notes. The flavor is roasted, with dark chocolate, raspberry and a quite evident influence from the barrel. Full-bodied and warming, with lots of raspberry flavors in the lasting finish. A wonderful beer, but I would like less raspberry flavor, especially in the end. 100506

6th May 2010. On tap at the Mikkeller bar in Copenhagen. Opaque black beer - pretty flat. A little bit of green vegetables on the nose! Dark malt with some off putting paint/glue tones. The beer is salvaged by some nice unsweet chocolate and a trace of sherry. This followed by sublte whisky and red fruit. Finishes semi dry with more dark malt and more glue! Too much glue to be the great beer is nearly is!

From tap@ Mikkeller bar. Black with a thin film of rust-red foam. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and sweet matured raspberry. Flavor is sweet malt, alcohol, fruity raspberry, a bit acidic with a bitter finish. Quite hot, balanced, heavy and really nice.

Draft. A black beer with no head. The aroma has notes of raspberries and sweet as well as roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of alcohol, raspberries, and roasted malt.

Draught. Mild fruity aroma, some paint thinner. Black colour, no head. Tastes OK of raspberry. Harsh barley bitterness. Good berry flavour, but rough base beer.

Draught@Mikkeller Bar. Pitch black colour, small bubbly brown head. Aroma is raspberries, roasted malts, some wooden barrel, mildly roasted, but also liquorice, vanilla and some mild alcohol. Flavour is quite similar with the alcohol being a bit more aggressive than it was in the aroma. Yet a rather nicely balanced brew.
