Samuel Adams Cranberry Lambic is a fruit beer that draws its flavor not just from the cranberries it is brewed with, but also from the unique fermentation character imparted by the rare wild yeast strain. The result is a flavor rich in fruitiness and reminiscent of cranberries and bananas, cloves and nutmeg. The yeast fermentation also will create a slight sourness on the sides of the palate, a signature of the original Lambic style which, with the subtle cereal note from the wheat malt, remind its drinker that, as fruity a beer as this is, it is still a beer.

Bottle: Light copper color with some gold tones and a smaller white head. The aroma is strong at first, sort of a musty fruit smell, but it lightened after being poured into my glass. The taste is much better than the smell - the cranberry tartness complimented the malty sweetness fairly well. Some clove is also present. Probably more reminiscent of fruit juice than beer, this one is destined for lower ratings. Too bad, its a neat idea and has promise...

12 oz. bottle, "Best by" April. Kind of a surprise to find a big grainy smell when I pop the cap.Poured in a shaker, it kicks up a head with a near Guinness cascade. Resolves to a thin head over a pale ale body with a cranberry twinge.Not anywhere near the sourness of a lambic Cranberries are here, but kind of mild, not tart. Further down, some fruit sourness comes through. A bit sticky, in fact this loose bottle was a little sticky. Kind of gassy, but otherwise pretty pleasant. It’s just clear that a true lambic can’t be mass produced in Sam Adams quantities.

Steamed vegatable aroma. Light orange in my steeler stein with a film on top. . Slightly rude, old stale orange juice flavor with a little western PA dirt mixed in. No sweetness detected. Finish is not bitter. Ive tasted a few Sammy Adams but this is an odd one. Not their finest hour. I almost bought two bottles on the reviews stated here but I’m glad I did not. High on the gag reflexometer. Many raters do not consider this to be a true lambic, but I must say this is the only regular beer, I’ve ever tasted, that has a similarity to Cantillon.

Bottle; wheaty hefe-like nose with bamama and cranverry esters; slighty hazy copper colored with a medium, quick-disapating cream-colored head; flavor show the cranberries, bananas, and spices especially nutmeg, with a very mildly tart finish!.

Ugh. Bought the seasonal 12 pack and for the most part I’ve enjoyed it, but i just can’t stomach this one. Way too fruity. I couldnt really taste or smell much else and its not a good fruity either.

Lightly hazed golden beer with rosée hues and thin lacing white head. Faint berries in aroma, no lambic here. In mouth, a tart cranberrry juice with light malt and lemon. Thin bodied. Not horrible, just not a lambic! Guys, stay out of lambic making, please! Bottle is baout 6 mo. old.

12 oz bottle, citrusy aroma, not bad, pours up a thin, rapidly fading head. Obviously this is a fruit beer and that’s clearly in evidence with every sip, but I don’t distinctly taste cranberries. It’s a bit tart with some malts to balance it out. Fairly tastey, really.... I think I like it more than their cherry wheat. But it’s not one of Sam Adams best.

Clear light amber body, creamy medium off-white head. Tart cranberry aroma with an earthy backdrop, definitely in a fruit beer sense rather than a lambic sense. Sweet and supremely sugary, with hints of cranberry that are mostly drowned in sugar and syrup (what’s with this brewery’s fascination with maple syrup?). The malt is hollow and vapid once the sugars subside. More of a novelty for the masses than a good beer.

Pours a brownish yellow out of the bottle. Aroma is of a fruity and malty mix. Flavor is of course cranberry with some notes of some malts. Very sweet,tart and dry. Not a bad attempt. Came in a winter classic pack.
