Black with minimal head. The coffee is there but very muted and same goes for bourbon. Earth, light wood, sweet molasses, malt, roasted notes. Finish has a touch of smoke. Medium bodied. It’s a fine beer.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 23/08/2025.
Black with a khaki cap that clears to the edge.
Nose is chocolate, mellow roast, charr, coffee beans, ashen nip, modest barrel.
Taste comprises dark malts, coffee grinds, spice, chocolate, mellow bourbon, spice, charr.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow rising boost.
Solid coffee fuelled impy but would have liked a touch more bourbon.

Bottle at home. Opaque black color, small light brown colored head. Aroma is malts, heavy heavy espresso, wow. Bourbon a while later. Flavor is malts, again heavy espresso, bourbon underneath, then a firm boost of chocolate. Distant liquorice in the background. Never overly sweet like you get nowadays with those pastry stouts. There's sweetness there, but nowhere near a pastry stout sweetness and there's a good balance with the bitters. Medium body, suitable decent carbonation, a bit sticky texture. Classic RIS. Delicious.

Clear dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Airy palate, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, a little thin bodied but, delivering a light creamy unsweet dark chocolate. Fruity unsweet bourbon. As strong as the bourbon is an earthy espresso coffee. Airy semi dry finish. A rich and rewarding Impy, especially for the pastry haters.

Draft sample @ Barcelona Beer Festival ’25.
