11/11/11/9//11

4th March 2010. Pre ZBF. Opaque black beer. Light brown frothy head - short lived. Sourish nose. Sharp vinegary sourness with an acid edge - but remains pretty drinkable even for a non sour lover.

On tap at Pre ZBF 2010. I had this straight after the regular Earthmonk and I have to admit that I found this just a bit too sour. It isn’t quite as balanced as the regular Earthmonk. Still a really good Flemish sour beer, with a touch of salt and vinegar crisp sourness to it. I’d still drink it over most beers, but I’d prefer the straight Earthmonk

Tasted after just one week in the bottle, courtesy of Urbain at the schoolhouse. Nearly black, beige head, great lacing. Has prunes obviously, port wine, red wine vinegar. Very pleasant sourness. Subtle and complex, a ton of character. Already a shockingly good brew, I would love to see it mature.

Had this at Pre ZBF March 5th 2010 Pours dark brown with a light beige head and a little bit of haze. Sour on the nose, with some sharp tingly fruit skins. Amazingly tangy in the mouth, much more so than I recall than the regular version, some warmth coming through. Nice. A8 A4 F7 P4 Ov15 3.8

Hazy mahogany with a medium creamy beige head. Sour aroma with plenty, lacto, roasted malt, prunes and pedio. Flavour had loads of lacto, pedio, roasted malt, sour berries, plums and wood. Finished sour. Nice one and with balanced sourness.

From tap at pre-ZBF. Pours hazy dark brown with a huge, creamy, tan and dense head. Aroma is fruity, light overripe and wooden. Wooden, fruity, slight acidic and citric flavoured. Subdued sweet fruity note. Dry and acidic finish with a lingering fruity note.

Draught Very dense & fine yellow-beige head over black beer with orange rim. Earthmonk less vinegary, more fruit, lactic acids galore in the nose already. Very fruity; finish is still acetic; prunes d’Agen, wild plums, sweet-sour balance. Retronasal plumsyrup. Lipsmacking sourness, medium bodied. Very interesting declination and an Urbain name to ROFL.
