Cask at the Milton Keynes Beer Festival 2013. Poured a lightly hazy dark gold with medium white head and good lacing. Aroma of grapefruit hops, dried fruit and orange peal. Citrus hop flavour with caramel and pear drop sweetness. Finishes pine, hop resin and toffee.

Hazy amber beer, tidy pale cream coloured head. Palate is softish with fine carbonation providing a nibble. A little malt cream. Resinous and bitterish marmalade hops. Trace of lemon and pine. Finishes semi dry, mildly bitter aftertaste. Decent.

Cask at the Walsall Beer Festival 2013. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a bubbly broken white head. The aroma is big hoppy, grassy and floral. The flavour is strong bitter, hoppy, with some alcohol liqourice. A nice ale, but I feel that the alcohol is starting to dominate and that’s not always so good.

500ml (Bottle conditioned), best before the end of Dec 2012: poured in an Abbot Ale badged glass tankard during Aug 2012. Hazy dull golden colour with a medium to thinish head. Yeasty, earthy, hoppy, piney and grapefruity: that sums up the nose and taste: this is a good strong beer and it’s hop bitter finish helped to ensure you remembered it was an IPA you were drinking.

Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2011. Old gold clear with lasting white head. Really good condition. Lovely English IPA. I like the hop. Hides its strength. Stunning condition. Rather a good English IPA. Decent beer

BCA from the Dodgi Deli aka Classic Deli, Cowley Rd, Oxford, 05-05-10 Well fucksocks this is good and what a find, the range of bottles at the Classic Deli isn’t as good as it has been despite their best efforts but if it can still be relied upon to unearth treasures like this then I am a happy man. This isn’t the best looker, pouring as it does a hazy orange amber but it has a nice billowing white head. The nose is marmaladey, some malts but it is the soft sweetened citrus fruits you mostly notice. The taste is citrus, honey marmalade again showing, its soft in the mouth with a wonderful bitterness. There is a nice warmth from the alcohol, in fact there is very little wrong with this beer, very impressed to see a lesser light like Beowulf doing something as good as this, this is territory normally reserved for Thornbridge, Brewdog, Oakham etc, but well done to Beowulf this is a great beer! Btw it even shone with Loz who said "can we go and get some more". A8 A3 F9 P4 Ov17 4.1
