A dark amber, strong ale, with a spicy aroma and a complex sweetness to complement the hoppy dry finish. This traditionally brewed strong English Ale is hopped with Goldings and Fuggles to give a spicy aroma. Full bodied, with a complex sweetness to complement the hoppy dry finish.

Cask @ Black Door. Aroma is rather mellow with some toffee. Flavour has hayish malt, minerals and some toffee. Also some menthol-like hops. Feels rather bready at the end of the glass. Easy-going and easy to forget.

Bottle shared at the Waterfront Inn during the Isle of Wight Jolly. Pours clear, shiny gold, lightly effervescent, with a frothy white head. The aroma holds some leaves, toasted grain and citrus rind. Light-medium sweet flavor with mild piney hops, light toasted grass, grainy bread and ripe orange. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderate sweet, bready malts to finish with grains, moderate piney bitterness, more citrus rind. Very decent.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 13 Dec 2013) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, nuts, dried fruit and earthy hops. Fruity, malty taste with dried fruit, nuts, toasty malt and a generous earthy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Well balanced and tasty winter warmer. Nice one.
