A dark, rich and layered stout with a wonderful silky texture and a lingering finish. We use a complex mash including roasted barley and oats along with 3 types of malt to give the beer plenty of black coffee and dark chocolate notes that make this stout intense yet approachable.

Bottle from Dikkers Slijterij, Hoogeveen. Aroma is dark malt, oats, sweet chocolate, roast, some caramel, touch of mocha and liquorice. Flavour is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is just above medium and a bit creamy. This Stout gets the job done with its rich oat malts and sweet dark chocolate aroma.

Dark brown to dark ruby red held up to light. 1cm porous tan head with medium retention. Coffee, cola liquorice on the nose. Very smooth in the mouth. First sweet coffee with chocolate then some raisin with liquorice. Very well rounded and smooth end with a nice lingering aftertaste of sweet coffee. Carbonation fits in perfectly. Very good.

Pours black or almost so with a quite thin dirty yellow/tan head; shows good enough persistence and lacing though. Pretty mild aroma, with a very gentle/soft milky stout base and delicate fruitiness (fruit cake) followed by very light hints of coffee and chocolate. Taste notes follow the aroma closely but in brighter, more vivid way. Pretty sweet even for an oatmeal stout with quite a lot of milky/soft feel, but still manages to close with a cleansing and quite dry finish/aftertaste that also shows a balsamic hint. Light to medium bodied with quite light carbonation, feels surprisingly easy going and easily drinkable for it's abv; went down pretty quickly. Maybe not a remarkable beer, but a very accomplished attempt at a pleasing/approachable stout that i quite enjoyed.

Bottle from Greene King Brewery Shop, Bury St. Edmunds. Dark ale with a small head. Has a notable to its aroma but sticky-sweet dark malts dominate taste. Has a whiff of roasted in its nose.
