Bottle at home. Has a pretty hazy black colour with a light brown small head. Lots of roasted malt in the aroma along with coffee beans, ash, leather, dark wood and anise. The flavour is also dominated by a wonderful roastedness with anise, coffee, leather, spices and dark berries. The mouthfeel is lighter than expected but slick. Light bitterness. A powerful and balanced ale with a nice spicy touch.

Aroma is sweetish and fruity with some toffee and distant cocoa notes. Flavour has very dark chocolate, some cocoa and distant peaty notes. Also some sweetish toffee and fruity notes. Smooth palate. Good!

Pours pitch black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts., coffee, chocolate and hints of anise. Taste is quite roasty and heavy on chocolate and coffee notes with some spicy notes and hints of anise and vanilla. Finish is sweetish with a lot of vanilla, spices and hints of cinnamon and anise. Nice, quite christmasy porter.

Tap @ pikkulintu. Poured black with a thin brown head. Aroma has licorice, spices, chocolate and anise. Flavor has anise, cough medicine, sweet milk chocolate light roastedness. Salty licorice in the sweet finish. Quite spicy.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20121208) The beer poured very dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, vanilla, dark chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty, sweet and bitter. A quite confusing beer. Vanilla is a pleasant flavour but here it was a bit too intense and hid other flavours.

Flaske fra polet på Kvadrat: Svart, med fint skum som desverre forsvinner fort. Krydret aroma i tillegg til vanlige porteraromaer (røstet malt, mørk sjokolande og kaffe. Den deilige smaken er ditto, og vaniljen kommer til sin rett ettersom temp. stiger, med litt kanel i tillegg. Stjerneanisen er brukt diskret. Lett syrlighet, fin munnfylde og stor drikkbarhet. Nok et velsmakende brygg fra Fanø. Fra fat på Kick i Kristiansand nov-13: beskrivelsen over og poeng tiltredes, også i år er dette et øl med stor kompleksitet og smaksfylde. Men til en pris som bare astronomer kan like. Alt på denne velassorterte puben har ublu priser.
