A tribute to the storied ales that journeyed to India during the British Victorian era, this beer encapsulates the essence of a bygone age.

Crafted to withstand the rigors of long sea voyages and the sweltering heat upon arrival, these robust brews were meticulously designed with elevated alcohol content and a generous infusion of hops. Our IPA is full-bodied and powerful, showcasing a strikingly bitter finish that will satisfy even the most discerning hop enthusiasts.

Brewed with a carefully curated selection of the finest Pale Ale, Maris Otter, Wheat, Crystal, and Cara malts, this exceptional brew is heavily hopped with a harmonious blend of English Goldings, Challenger, and Fuggles hops. The result is an IPA bursting with vibrant hop character, rich aromas, and complex flavours that dance on your palate.

Named after a stunning fishing spot in Karnataka, Southern India, where Jem spent countless hours casting his line in the breathtaking Mekedatu Gorge during the early 2000s, this IPA also pays homage to a legendary tale. It is said that a goat once leapt across the river to escape a leopard at the gorge's dramatic 150-foot drop—a breathtaking sight reminiscent of Cheddar Gorge, but with the added allure of a flowing river.

At 5.5% ABV, this proper English IPA invites you to embark on a journey through history, capturing the spirit of adventure in every sip. Cheers to a legacy of bold flavour!

Old rating - A 500ml bottle (ABV 5.5) my wife got me from Cheddar itself. Pours a dark amber with a foamy white head. Aromas & tastes of fruits, citrus & spices. Medium body. Medium bitter finish. Very good IPA.

500ml bottle. Deep amber pour, light haze, off-white head. Aroma of ripe fruits, candied orange, caramel malts. Taste is the same, sweet caramel malts dominate, candied orange, zesty citrus, decent bitterness to finish. Medium bodied. For a classic English IPA - which I always find rather malt dominant - I suppose it's a fairly decent one.

500ml bottle conditioned (5.5% ABV): BBE June 2023, poured into a vase shapped UK pint glass at home on 20th June, so just in date. No sediment left the bottle so I have a lovely clear mahogany red body in front of me, smooth layer of creamy foam on top, looks a picture. Malty, dry and bitter taste, aroma is subtle with a slight malt esters, but it's come straight out the fridge and is still fairly cold at the moment, so maybe it'll grow in strength as it warms a little. It just got more malty in the nose to be honest.

Bottle online from The Cheddar Brewery. Pours a slightly hazy light chestnut colour with a large thick creamy off white head. Aromas of citrus orange, toffee, caramel, biscuits and some spice. Taste is the same notes again with lots of peppery spice and more citrusy orange mixed in with toffee and caramel with mild pithy orange bitterness and also some nutty notes on the finish. A touch of sweetness too. Very well balanced. Medium body, low carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. Well conditioned leaving nice lacing all the way down the glass. Lovely English IPA. Enjoying this very much and will be having it again in the near future.

Tight foamy beige head left a creamy cover on a clear copper coloured body. Fruity malted aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a sharp back. Malt, fruity berries, light hops & grain tastes with a tangy bitter finish. Tastes more like a Bitter than EIPA
