On tap at Kaapse After Borefts Beer Festival, Rotterdam, Netherlands, Sunday 23rd September 2017 after a great 22.25 cycle ride from Alphen aan den Rijn. Not sure if this is in the correct place but the beer I had definitely said 'oak aged', this would presumably differentiate it from the standard version but not sure it sits as a BBA? however note that someone below has rated it here at After Borefts. Pours black with a slim filmy beige head. A big, bolshy stout, roasty and bitter, some bitter bonfire toffee. Lovely carbonation, lots of chocolate, smooth and creamy. Good, in fact very good. Keg at the hanging bat. Pours black, nose is toffee, vanilla, coconut, chocolate, taste is similar, quite boozy.

Tap. Brown color with beige head. Aroma is chocolate, berries, earthy, nutty. Taste is the same, quite earthy. Silky mouthfeel, medium carbonation.

From tap. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is smoked. Roasted dark malty. Bitter, roasted. Dark malty. Mild minerals. Roasted dark malty. Roasted finish.

(Draught at Uiltje Craft Beer Bar, Haarlem, 27 July 2017) Blackish colour with hints of ruby. Frothy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with oak wood, bourbon, liquorice, vanilla and strong sweet coffee. Malty, roasted, sweetish taste with notes of bourbon, oak wood, dried fruit, coffee and a generous coffee bitterness. Full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and quite powerful, with lots of bourbon wood and some warming alcohol. Very nice.

Draught @ Van Moll Brewpub. Opaque black color, medium sized light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, a weird oaky woody weirdness. Not good. I get red wine, oak, wood, tart, red fruits. Taste malts, alcohol, oak, wood, slight tart. Far from what I expected. Don't like it at all.

Zwart met bruine kraag. Aroma en smaken van chocolade, geroosterde en gebrande mouten, bourbon, vanille, zoet, zacht, glad, romig, alcohol, redelijke body, iets beter dan het basisbier en puur door de bourbon een verbetering maar geen topsegment kwaliteit.

Sampled at vcbf 2017. Thnx for sharing, Tim and Eugene! Bourbon and maple version. Pours black, small white head. Smell is intense, smokey, sone intense roast. Taste is roasty, mild smoked, bit dry. Not a lot of maple nor bourbon, really.
