Somerland Gold is another regular medal winner. If you like your beers golden, hoppy and refreshing then this is for you, but be careful - it goes down quickly for 5%. Pale and Wheat malts are jostling for your attention with Challenger and Northern Brewer hops. At this strength our English yeast leaves hints of honey.

Bottle from Kris Wines, London. Drunk whilst watching the champions league final at mums. Cloudy yellowish pour with a medium sized fading off white head. Nose was fruity with notes of honey, malt and yeast., all of which were picked up again in the taste which was nicely hopped. and led to a lingering bitter finish. Certainly an above average example of a style which I find can be a bit tedious.

Bottle at Chriso pre-GBBF tasting 09. Summer grass saisony hop aroma. Served warm which was a shame, so a bit sweaty sox. I have a bottle in the fridge to re-rate. 3/6 Re-rate from the bottle in the fridge. It’s a decent summer spritzy golden ale. Not big and flashy, but there is enough hop on the end there. I can just imagine Justin’s smile as he sank a bottle of this on a hot day. He’d be pretty happy, and so would I.
