Tap - just got lucky this was on tap while I was at the brewpub. Pours opaque black with a medium super creamy tan head and great lacing. Aroma is bourdon, dark roasted malts, cocoa, vanilla. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, light bitter, light woody astringence. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

On draught during the Citra release on 02/01/2013. The beer pours black with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and bourbon. Full-bodied with flavors of burnt malt, bourbon and dark chocolate. The finish is boozy with a lingering oaky bourbon aftertaste. Good beer overall.

On nitro tap. Rating 5300. Pours with a pitch black body and a lasting, and surprisingly large tan head. Aromas are huge: bourbon, chewy, fudge, chocolate and oak. Hints of maple, vanilla and a toasted maltiness. Roast is smooth. Flavors of dark fruit, currants, raisins, dates, chocolate, milk chocolate, mild roast, oak and light bourbon. Creamy mouthfeel. Rich, silky. Well hidden alcohol. Excellent!

750ml bottle. Pours an oily, opaque black with a thin, creamy off white head. Nose is muted and mellow, vanilla, oak, woody, chocolate, brown sugar, molasses. Flavor is vanilla beans, coffee grounds, malty, molasses, licorice, toasted bread. Medium bodied, super smooth, lightly slick finish that leaves a lasting vanilla essence in the mouth.

75 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a small hazzlenut golden glare and a fully diminished off-white head. Aroma is dry roasted malt and vanilla. Smooth. Sweet, alcohol and dark roasted malt in the initial flavour impression. Slight phenolic and dark roasted malt base. Lingering chocolate, vanilla and dark malty into the finish.

Draft at the brewpub!! Nose of light bourbon (really heavenly smell of bourbon not the cheap and overdone smell some other BB stouts have), chocolate, and light caramel. Black with a semi hazy brown edge and a medium glass lacing beige head of tiny bubbles. Flavor of chocolate, bourbon, and more chocolate. Body is medium thick and creamy. Finish is light bourbon flavor without the alcohol heat. My favorite KRB beer so far! Dec 12 09 18 months in the barrel now and on draft at the brewpub! Still great and even more Heavens Hill Bourbon especially in the flavor. Great stuff! Too bad it’s almost all gone!
