Brewmaster Steve took his Belgian Amber Ale and re-fermented it in a merlot cask with 100# of sweet Michigan cherries from Husteds Farm Market. He than moved the resulting beer into another cask with 30# of tart cherries. 5 fermentations due to wild yeast and 9 months later, we have our version of a Belgian Kriek. Named after our good friend and musician, April Verch.

Bottle shared in London - sourced via trade in the US. Vintage 2016. Pours mostly clear reddish brown with essentially no head. Lovely nose, lots of rich tangy berries. Light sweet flavour, assertive acetic twang, more tart berries, salt, stewed fruits. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Tart berries in the finish with moderate acetic burn. Good one.

MBG 12th Annual Winter Beer Festival, Grand Rapids. Murky, caramely- red-brown body, medium tight cream head. Tart, funky, earthy body, sweet and tart with a firm bite and the perfect compliment of oak. My notes are brief but this is one of the finest sour cherry beers I've sampled.

On tap at The Livery 5th anniversary party. Poured brown with a yellow hue and minimal head that dissipated completely. Aroma was full of tart cherries with a strong oak note. flavor was slightly sweet with cherries in the beginning, but quickly became tart with a oak undertone throughout the beer.
