On tap at Patricks Pub, several times, and also at Copenhagen Beerfestival (cask) and at the brewery. It pours a dark brown to black body, topped by a small, beige to tan head. Balsamic vinegar and some soy in the aroma, with touches of raspberries and roasted malts. Some vanilla beans too. Rather intense and nose punishing, but I love it. The flavor also starts like balsamic vinegar, with vanilla, raspberry and soy sauce shows up. Not much roasted. Full-bodied and tart. Lasting sour, vinegary finish. Even though it’s an extreme beer in many ways, pushing the limits on the perception on beer, I really love it. The cask edition at Copenhagen Beerfestival wasn’t as good as the kegged edition found at Norwegian pubs, maybe the co2 was needed? Had several pints of this one, and it’s missed. 090321

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Opaque black colour, dark ruby in the highlights. Nice and creamy beige head. Very interesting aroma, strong notes of raspberries and balsamic vinegar, on a subtle background of vanilla, malts and chocolate. The flavour was extremely sour and acidic, with notes of raspberries, red wine vinegar and undefined sour fruits, hints of chocolate. Interesting beer, but too far out on the sour side to be a favourite of mine. Maybe not a good idea to make a DARK beer this sour? - people kind of expect a fairly different flavour profile from the dark stuff.

Tap at Copenhagen Beerfestival 09. Dark color, flat. Aroma of raspberry, coffee, vanilla, bit dusty. Quite sour taste, slight bitter, hint of vanilla. Raspberry overwhelms a bit, not much roasted malt. Sharp palate. It’s a very strange brew, quite unbalanced, but in the end i cant say I dislike it.

On tap @ Patricks. Dark, reddish brown body with a thin layer of reddish head. Sour, fruity aroma with a hint of vinegar and Soya together with vanilla and oak. Flavor is extremely complex, first of all pretty sour, fruity like sour berries, also dark, roasted malt, wood and vanilla. There is a hint of something sweet like chocolate here, but not easy to recognize beyond all the acid. At he first impression this is way to sour to call it balanced, but there is a lot of interesting flavors going on here. After a few pints of this I’m really starting to get use to this and my minds goes to Rodebach Grand Cru, even if it’s a big difference. I’m also glad I got the opportunity to compare this with an almost dead bottle version, becourse this brew needs the carbonation, it makes it a lot more smother. A really interesting beer that grows every time you taste it, sorry to say it’s no more left.

Deep brown to black hazy body. Complex, intense aroma of raisin, vanilla, fruit, raspberry, wood, malts, caramel, molasses, citrus, ... Moderately sour, moderately sweet flavour. ’Dense structure’. Very nice, somewhat Rodenbach-like.

Dull dark brown colour. Flat-looking. Chocolate, raspberry nose with wood, vanilla and alcohol. Woody, aggressive palate with a huge berryish, liqeurish note. Tastes pretty huge. This is a tough beer to wrap my head around because of the assertive woodiness and clash of flavours.

Cask. Pours completely opaque black with a small off-white head. Intensely sour raspberry aroma. Medium body, almost completely flat, hard roasted malt and very sour raspberry, lots of burning acetone down your throat. What a weirdo. 160509
