500ml bottle. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived fizzy off-white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is roasty, liqourice. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, with a crisp, light chocolate, nutty, light aromatic, liquorice bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Cask at Lych Gate, Wolverhampton. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small foamy cream head and good lacing. There’s lactose and roast malts in the aroma. Roast malts to the fore in the mouth as well along with cola and dandelion and burdock plus hints of vanilla and plums. Later there are traces of ginger and liquorice too. Slight bitterness in the finish. Nice enough but a bit on the thin side.

Thin beige head on a dark reddish brown body. Malt, toffee & liquorice aroma. Medium bodied, lively on the tongue thinning out to a lump finish. Liquorice, malt, herbal, medicinal & toffee tastes with a sprinkling of the hops on the bitter finish. It's alright.
