Mac’s Gold is the talisman of the Mac’s family, an all malt lager brewed naturally with hints of citrus and sweet malts. Mac’s Gold is the First, the Original, the Supreme naturally brewed all malt lager unbroken and therefore unfixed since 1983. It’s remained ahead of the curve, at the bleeding edge (or whatever other piece of metaphorical excess is fashionable this week) thanks to its delicate caramel sweetness and crisp, clean aftertaste. Connoisseurs will note that the mid-palate bitterness and hints of citrus have not been tinkered with.

20/VI/2012 - 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 26/VI/12 (2012-640) Thanks to Thomas and Annelies for the bottle!
Clear gold to light orange beer, nice off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of grains, malts, barnyard, hint of sweetness, some green herbs. MF: ok carbon, light to medium body. Taste: little sour in the start, lemony, some grains, nice refreshing bitterness. Aftertaste: little sweet, malty, nice bitter hoppy ending. Pretty decent lager!

Clear pale gold beer. Short lived white head. Light palate a little dry. Very light malt with just a whisper of hop. Competent but bog standard lager. Easy drinking.

33cl bottle. Pours a bright, pale yellow with steady bubbles and a decent head, some of which hangs around. The nose has a nice malty sweetness. the taste has some oatmeal, more of the sweet malt and there is a creaminess. The palate is light to medium in body, creamy in texture and with a long clean finish. Overall, I feel that in flavour, this has taken a small step away from lager towards a brown ale - nice!

Bottle in London. Clear copper pour with a sliding, fizzy white head. Cheap malts and grain in the nose. Sugary flavor, some cereal grains and not really any bitterness. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. More cereal, sugar and not terribly pleasant malts to finish. An uninspiring beer on the whole.

Bottle, GBK, Liverpool. Typical golden lagery looks with a fast fading white head. Slightly sweet, malty aroma. Bready, insipid flavour. Dry finish. Had worse, but pretty tedious stuff.
