Bottle, shared at Northern Monk. Hazed, dark yellow. Barely a head. Nose has cut wood. Apricot stone. White grape juice. Lemon juice. Background of soft funk. Taste is light sweet, with a funky, woody twang. Clean and bright mouthfeel. Nicely pitched balance of sweet and sour on the finish. Not too complex, but really well put together.

(750ml bottle from boxbeers.dk) Pours a lightly hazy medium gold with a rapidly vanishing white head that leaves no lace. Aroma is tart and loaded with juicy muscat grapes, floral honey, punchy ripe apricot and nectarine, oak, citrus juice, a kiss of yeasty funk and hay, and an overall candied feel that is probably attributable to that inimitable muscat quality. The flavour is tart but lacks the same acidic bite as the normal Farmer’s Reserve beers, more in the vein of a dry white wine, with flavours of sweet white grape, honey and a floral core, augmented by more tart apricots, pale fruit skins, subtle notes of oak, a brush of hay and drying champagne yeast in the finish. The aftertaste recalls a moderately oaked white wine, with lingering muscat and apricot notes. The body is medium-full, slightly oily, with soft sparkling carbonation and no real hint of the ABV. While this is clearly a beer, it conveys the white wine character very comprehensively, being extremely drinkable and character-laden. Great brewing!
