18/10/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (cask). Corpo medio-basso, carbonazione soft. Discreta porter all’inglese.

Cask at the Cask, Pub and Kitchen. Dark brown with a light beige head. Quite and earthy nose. Coffee, chocolate and vanilla flavours. Earthy flavours with a hint of chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Interesting hop angle. Smoky, hoppy finish. Intriguing.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A reddish dark brown beer topped by a dense, tan head. Malty and roasted nose with some dried fruits. Quite roasted flavor too, with some coffee and a little dash of dried fruits. Smooth, dry and full-bodied. Coffee-bitter finish. A beer that I couldn’t really pin, but a decent beer it sure is. 091024

Bottle, 4.9%. Mild roasted aroma. Clear dark brown colour, red shine. Small light brown head. The flavour is mildly roasted, has a good malt finish. A bit thin, but I guess that is to be expected from a mild ale.

Botle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Clear reddish brown with a lively beige head - a slow gusher. Dry dark fruits in the nose. Medium body, dry roasted malts and dark fruits, but absolutely no sweetness. Again dry in the finish with a vague coffeeish roast. 241009

tasted at the Pre-ZBF, was told it was bottled straight from the cask, had a bark brown appearance with some floaties. Smelled great with tons of roasted malt and a light smokiness. Lots of malt flavor continuing to a mild bitter finish. This would be a great session beer and I would love to try it from a cask.

Cask gravity at Butchers Arms, Herne. Brewed by Eddie, Steve and Phil Lowry. Nice pump clip. Black beer, ruby edges. Lasting beige head. Freshly tapped. Chocolatey beer. Good condition. Very drinkable. Dryish, dry choc finish, little bit of powder on finish, but good balance of juiciness and dryness. Juicy dark fruits, some dark cherry and plum. Some Gadds typical hop finish. Good choccy aroma. Bit of coffee there too. Flavour grows. Good lasting flavour. I was recommending this to anyone coming in.
