Cask @ Old Bell Tavern, Harrogate. Copper with a creamy head. It’s a crisp ale with a light bitterness and light malts to match.

Tap East. Cask. Clear amber beer, good bubbly pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and semi dry. Modest fine carbomation. Smooth malt with whispers of caramel and toffee. Little dried fruits. Joins up well but overall a little dry.

(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 10 Jan 2009) Reddish brown colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, nutty nose with dark fruit and dusty hops. Malty, nutty taste with notes of chocolate, dark fruit, dates and dusty hops in the finish. Some fruity sweetness throughout. Medium bitterness, medium body. Well balanced and tasty winter beer.

Cask Tillys Newcastle Upon Tyne. Dark reddy brown colour with minimal head. Yeast and malt in the nose. Trace fruit and hop in the flavour but very drab and insipid stuff. Pretty tedious xmas fayre.
