From tap at the Halfway House as Velvet. Pours clear and golden orange to hazzlenut brown with a small and slight off-white head. Mild roasted malty aroma. Flavour holds a mild butterish note to a light spiced hoppy tone. Dry and malty into the finish. Smooth and roasted malty impression overall.

Light brown colour, medium off-white head. Aroma has grassy hops, along with a grainy smell. Flavour has caramel malts, hops giving some bitterness. Forgettable.

Medium creamy offwhite lasting head settles quickly, forming a sharp line against the chestnut brown body. Rich malty fruity aroma with metallic notes. Dry milky earthy stale malt taste with roasty metallic notes. Some maize as well. A bit watery. Sharpish mouthfeel. Quite fizzy. Overall a bit articial. (0.44l can, Coop, Ballycastle, Northern Ireland. Rated twice.)

On tap at Horseshoe Bar, Glasgow. Pale chestnut colour with lasting beige head. Some caramel and very restrained hop on aroma, fine in mouth, some more caramel, faint tingle of hop on finish. Fine, if dull.

Can, alc. 3.5% as "Draught Velvet". Clear amber color, steady creamy off-white head. Roasted malty aroma with sort of skunky hops. Smooth mouthfeel, watery, only some roasted malts. Kind of watered down Kilkenny.

Oily an sulphury hop aroma. Pours a nice red amber with a creamy head. Lightbodied, but that is to be expected for a beer with 3.5% ABV. Unfortunately light on taste as well. Acidic aftertaste

Keg at The Three Judges, Glasgow. Copper coloured beer, off-white head, nice lacing. Nice aroma of butterscotch and malts. Moderate malty flavour, hints of butterscotch, minimal hops, not very exciting. I have also had the nitro-keg "Velvet" version in Glasgow previously - looks nice, smooth mouthfeel, easy drinking, but not much of a challenge flavourwise.
