At Brugs Bierfestival, 4 February 2018. Cheers to Anke & Pieter!
Cloudy jet black with a lasting, foamy, beige head. Aroma of smoke, smoked bacon, roasted malt, sweet tobacco, some coffee & dark chocolate, dark fruits. Tastes medium nutty/malty sweet with umami and smoke accents, then light toasty bitter; long, smoky finish and a very subtle dash of whisky alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. One of the best I had at the festival; we need more beers like this!

(Thank you!) Sampled draft @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. 90 % smoked malt. Black, nice solid dark mocha head. Nose is pure umami, soy sauce smoked gravy thick oily but an umami profile that actually appeals to me, the smoke, gravy, thickness makes it all work, strangely balanced & oddly easy to drink, smoked gravy, oily syrup, sludge, umami all the way, smoked, molasses hint. Thick oily but oddly drinkable. Surprised at how well this worked out, interesting, rich. Totem has a pretty impressive list of smoked beers so far, a style virtually absent in Belgium.

Clear dark brown to black beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, dissipates quickly. Aroma: very roasted, lots of chocolate, coffee, some camp fire. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: sweet, lots of chocolate, soft bitterness, very roasted, coffee, soft smoky touch. Nice one!
