WILD BLOND BIER MET VERGETEN KRUIDEN
Een voorjaarswandeling in de bergen, een afdaling naar een alpenweide met mistflarden, waar kruiden groeien die de lucht vullen met frisse, bloemige geuren. Koele, zuivere berglucht vult je longen, alles ademt puurheid. In het dal hangt de echo van een eenvoudiger leven, dichtbij de natuur, dichtbij ons hart. Hier vinden we terug wat we kwijt zijn geraakt.
Alm is een droog, licht bitter wild bier met ‘vergeten’ kruiden, ofwel kruiden die je tegenwoordig bijna niet meer ziet. Zonde, want ze hebben vaak heerlijke aroma’s die wij graag laten schitteren in ons bier. Zomeralsem geeft frisse, zachte toetsen van citrus en jong gras. Het kruidige Belgische randje van onze wilde huisgist gaat mooi samen met de biscuit-achtige moutigheid van het bier.
Alm heeft de gouden medaille gewonnen bij de Dutch Beer Challenge 2019 in de categorie “Innovatie/speciaal – minder dan 6% ABV”.

ABV: 5.5%. Cloudy - hazy matt medium yellow orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, apricot - funk, leather - brett, grapes, light yeast. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, funk, fruity, apricot - peach, leather - brett, yeast. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20190926]

Bottle at home week 684902 of the corona outbreak. Murky golden with no head. Very grainy, tangy citrusy, parfumey floral and soft herbal. Weird dry and bitter grainy mouthfeel. Like a mouthful of popcorn fleeces and dead yeast cells. The first part of the aromas passing through the mouth is definitely the best part of the experience, but the dry and bitter finish does provides a contrast that makes it an exciting wild beer.

Good off-white head over muddy greenish darker yellow beer, well-carbonated. Sharp sourish, acetic nose as from onions on vinegar. Vegetable, bit floral. Herbal, herbs-intoned sour taste, still acetic if somewhat milder than expected. Bitterish background flavour that is clearly wormwood, absinth. And again those small white pickled onions. Sharp, acidburn, very carbonated, light body. Onions on vinegar, love them with my fries. Not IN my beer, and the same goes for wormwood.

On tap @ Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Pours hazy, pale yellow, with a creamy head. Aroma is wooden yeast, with hay and fruity brett with white berries, grapes, sour candy, tannins and wooden barrels. Medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is tart fruity notes of white berries, grapes, sour candy and bretty farmhouse notes, as well as fruity minerals, tannins and wooden barrels.

Tap. Hazy pale yellow color with white head. Aroma is wheat, fizzy candy, citric, soapy and perfumey. Taste is the same. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation.

Bottle. Blonde. Soft herbal, just a bit salty aroma. Totally dry, herbal bitter flavor with a hint of citrus. Twigs, earthy notes. Interesting.
