Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Light gusher. Pours hazy golden amber with a thick white head. Aromas of caramel, light lemon, biscuit. Hobnobs. Taste is more of the same. Sweet finish. Dull.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - it’s a slight gusher. Then golden amber with a nice fluffy head. Nose - caramel mostly. Oatmeal. Taste - hobnobs, but very grainy. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a finish that could be cleaner. Overall - not great.

Bottle with RCH as the brewer. Slightly hazed dark orange ale with a sweetness that is a mix of grain and fruit. Has orange notes including in its aroma.

500 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a small and diminishing off-white head. Aroma is light malty with fresh bread. Flavor is light malt, hint of caramel and almost no bitterness. Body is weak and thin with short finish. Noting really wrong here except for being rather uninspired and boring. Plain straightforward British bitter with nothing extraordinary anywhere.

Bottle. It pours a clear, slightly chill hazed golden body under a small off-white head. Some lace work. Slightly puke like initially on the aroma, soon followed by a slight roasted breadyness and caramel. Quite weak, with some fruity hops in the background. Metallic hints in the far back. Main problem though, is that it’s too weak. The flavor is much the same, boring and uninspired, but the hops are allowed a little more space to play on, giving a lemony touch and some bitterness. Quite thin in the mouth. Short, weak and balanced finish. The beer is too sweet to be really quenching, but it’s a decent brew, although it’s as boring as Norwegian telly in the 70’s. (090210)

Described as "a dark, golden bitter" and as a "pleasure of the older generation". Well, it comes with a filmy head over a dark, amber body. Lightly hopped aroma. Taste of old books with a hoppy touch followed by a smooth and dry bitter ending. An ordinary English bitter, I would say (500ml bottle enjoyed at a hotel room in Oslo, 14.11.2007).

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger, as "Branded Drinks Old Shag". ABV is 4.0%. Amber colour, decent head. Very moderate aroma, just a hint of malt and toffee. Moderate malty and biscuity flavour, very moderate hops. Not bad, but not remarkable either.
