A rich ruby porter style beer with lashings of hoppiness and plenty of fruit & toffee on the palate.

sour milk chocolate. Not that pleasant. Don’t know why, but not a big fan of this brewery in general

Reddish dark brown. Fruit nose (coconut, pear, honeydew) with toasty and perhaps somewhat coffeish accents. Mainly fruit taste mixes caramel with light toast. Good ale, somewhat more toasty than most bitters but less nutty than any brown ale...and even if you believe in "Irish Ale" I don’t think you could call it that either. Nice.

a porter? really? id have to disagree with that one. its brown, ill give you that, but nowhere near roasty or toasty enough to be a porter. its very well balanced, very easy to drink, bready in the front, bitter in the finish. some dark fruit, but not too sweet. very enjoyable.

Bottled at L. Mulligan Grocer, Dublin. Dark brown, small head. Chocolatey nose. Mid dry with clean, rounded mouthfeel and medium body. Roasty and chocolatey with mild grassy spicy hops on top.Mild but growing spicy bitterness. A well balanced chocolatey porter.

Great deep brown coloured body, sort of like cola, with a ruby and copper glow all topped by a nice and well-served tan head. Aroma of good toasted malt, a bit of light pumpkin pie spice, allspice, cereal and a ton of nice caramel and toffee. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour at first then shows a softer, nuttier taste with a mild amount of light spices and a good finish of subdued caramel sweetness. Aftertaste is fairly minimal with only the sweetness and toasted malt really coming out at all. Overall, a good beer - definitely not a porter in my mind, but then again, it’s from Northern Ireland, so the styles don’t really mesh well. Definitely nice to sample this beer - purchased at McHughes Off-License in Killbarack, Dublin, Republic of Ireland on 20-February-2009, sampled back on the other side of the pond at home in Washington on 26-October-2010.

Medium light brown body. Dark red body. Papery earthy sugary aroma with chocolatey notes. Dry earthy caramel and apepr taste with roasty chocolate and wood notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. Dry-bitter floral earthy old books aftertaste. Oxidized and too old. Must rerate. (0.5l bottle, BBF 2008-12.)

50cl bottle from a Eurospar in Dalkey, Dublin. Reddish chestnut with a thin cream head; rich roast malt aroma with a hint of treacle; smooth with deep earthy, nutty flavours and a light syrupy carmael that’s not too sweet; leading to a dry soothing satisfying finish with bags of malt. An excellent porter.
