Bottle from Wales Ales. Pours a chestnut colour with small off white top. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and light coffee. Taste has roast, chocolate, light brown bread, caramel, . Modest roast char bitter finish. Quite light bodied and above average carbonation. Its a decent light stout although might be better on cask.

Cask at the Pen and Wig. Dark, dark brown with a small frothy sand head. Light roast aroma, lightly fruity, raisins. Taste has more sweet notes, fruity, with the roast coming in behind for a soft bitter finish. A bit thin, but goes down easy.

Draft at the Great British Beer Festival 2014, Day 3 - London. Pours clear, light brown with a frothy tan head. Well toasted biscuit flavor, light cocoa, some tangy and leathery fruits, a bit of earthy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation; OK carbonation. Some light roasted malts in the finish, forest fruits, toasted brown bread. OK.

Cask at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst. A dark reddish chestnut colour with a thin translucent head; chocolate malt aroma; sweet milky textrure with a deeply roasted, nutty malt taste with some chocolate in the background; the finish is dry with lingering Brazil nuts. Rather good.
