Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky brown color with a medium sized creamy off white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet with bread dough, honey, caramel, fig and vegetal malts. The flavor was sweetish, bitter, astringent, medicinal, perfumey, chalky and vegetal. Very long finish of rancid vegetable soup. Pretty disgusting.

Draught @ Albion. Faintly cloudy golden yellow with off-white foamy head, vanilla like aroma with some tropical fruit, medium carbonation, thick body, slightly salty taste with a bitter finish. Very satisfying brew.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark hazy amber with light to moderate head. Aromas of rye dough, dark fruit, and Christmas spice. Flavors of rich sweet malts, raisins and Christmas cake, and Belgian yeast. Wonderful.

11.2 oz bottle, purchased awhile ago at Julio’s. Damn it’s a gusher... After the foamy calmed down enough to get about 7 oz in my glass I noticed the hazy Amber color. Aroma is caramel candy, light funk, dusty yeast, light dark fruit.
The flavor is mostly as the aroma with a chewy thick malty dark fruit and yeast texture. The funk is here very lightly underneath all the malt. No ABV or oxidation found. No clue on the Batch number but it’s held up really well, except for losing 4 oz on the floor. And I should have open prior to now.... So much beer, so little time.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small white head that lasts. The aroma is strong funk, barnyard, yeast, and oak. Thin mouthfeel with light grain, wet biscuit, and funk. Easy to drink, very good.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours deep golden with big chunks of yeast and off-white head. Medium/light body, medium carbonation, and thick big bubble lacing. Taste is pear. Reminds me somewhat of a tripel, not interested in having again.

750 thanks to Dallas. Pours a murky brown and copper color with a large white head. A fruity nose with light yeast. The flavor is very sweet, some caramel, dry yeast, candies, a bit of warmth, light hops and fruit in the finish, apricot. Nice.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 4/13/2010. No pop of the cork upon opening. Pours very hazy red-orange color with a small fairly dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of pear, apple, grape, peach, orange, floral, caramel, honey, bread, light pepper, clove, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity brett notes with balanced hop and malt notes. Taste of pear, apple, grape, peach, orange, pineapple, floral, caramel, honey, bread, toffee, light pepper, clove, and yeast earthiness. Very slight fruity tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, floral, caramel, honey, bread, toffee, clove, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity hop/yeast notes with well balance malt sweetness; with no cloying flavors present after the finish. Light carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is actually quite good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian strong pale ale, despite lack of carbonation. Very nice complexity and balance of fruity and malty flavors; and quite smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.
