An unusual beer, it is neither a porter nor a stout, but a black ale. It is a proper English pale with the addition of heavily roasted grains. Only English hops are used, some of them later in the boil to leave behind essential oils and hop aroma. This beer tests the drinkers senses – the eyes are saying it’s heavy, the mouth says it’s light, perhaps sometimes dangerously so….

Bottle. Black, dark-malty, quite mild tasting with a small head and traditional in design. There’s only a small roasted malt aroma with a similarly light roasted taste that includes a sweetness about it. Its fair strength is not particularly evident.

Nearly black, red lights, with a short tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee. Flavour is dry, lightly bitter chocolate, malt. Very mild, with a slight lactic feel. Good Stuff.

Dobry Stout. Czarny jak Guinness, Piana brązowo-beżowa, średniej wielkości ale utrzymuje się sporo czasu na powierzchni. Smak Karmelowo-czekoladowy, kawowych nut nie wyczułem. Gorycz tylko na finiszu. W smaku słodkawo-palone. Pijalne piwo.

50 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 24.09.2009
Aroma has licorice, well roasted malt and coffee notes. Flavour has pleasant roastiness, licorice and some dark chocolate. Finishes with ash, coffee notes and hints of cocoa. Some may find the malt here way too roasted, but I seem to enjoy even this level of roastiness. Palate could be more rich though.

Opaque black beer, tidy tan head. Light dry palate with mild carbonation. Nice dark malt with a little roast, but not too much. Well balanced with fresh and slightly sweet citrus and a trace of pine. Semi dry finish. Whisper of coffee. Decent.

500ml bottle - black with a tan head, looks very good. A typically smoky stout aroma, but after that it goes a bit down hill. The palate is a bit thin, the taste is a bit bland, but drinkable nonetheless.
