Forget the ABV, which is just a by-product of the passion. It was James & Josh from the Queen’s Arms, Corton Denham, and Justin Hawke, founder and head brewer here at Moor (hence the JJJ) whose shared enthusiasm for great beers and 9 years ago now were lamenting the lack of true IPAs in the UK. So they decided to brew their own version of heaven. Double IPA was just not enough - it needed to be a triple IPA. Triple the gravity, triple the colour, and more than triple the hops. With over a tonne of malt and 65kgs of hops this beer is big in every sense. In fact, it was so big and hoppy the first time round that it broke our pump! This beer is a real blend of British and American brewing styles. Unlike many Imperial IPA’s being brewed today this is made with 100% malt, adding a depth of flavour beyond the hop character. Deep copper in colour, over the top in aroma and flavour, but somehow still remaining (somewhat) balanced, this beer is not for the faint of heart.

Can from the Stoneworks, Peterborough. Dark golden red-brown, clear with a minimal amount of carbonation and a well-sized creamy off-white head. Hot boozy aroma with a ton of spiced mango, fruit loaf, papaya. Taste is frankly out of this world. Sweet and laden with alcohol, turning noticeably but not overpoweringly bitter in the sip. Long bitter finish with tropical fruit hop oils kicking my tongue's ass all over the town. DIPAs are in general a wonderful thing, but this is special beyond special.

#1000 England Rating. Can at home, 20th October 17. Been after this one since I missed the release last year. Pours dark Amber orange and murky. Aroma is orange, caramel and pine sap. Taste is citrus pith, bitter orange marmalade, a bitter piney linger. Hop profile maybe more English than some dipa, but works well. Enjoyable.

Can from The Beerhive. Murky amber body with a dense off-white head. No visible carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of caramel, Jaffa Cake, tea and marmalade. Flavour of blood orange, honey and papaya. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A lovely DIPA that verges into Barley Wine territory. One of my favourite Moor beers to date.

On tap @Buskers Pub (Rome). Pesca giallona, opalescente, schiuma leggera. Al naso sentori di malto, frutta gialla, mango, melone, resina. In bocca ha una base di malto importante con amaro finale deciso. Corpo pieno, carbonazione medio-leggera. Birra sui generis, una sorta di american barley wine. Molto buona!

330ml can. Pours a deep amber/copper colour with a medium off-white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma: pine, citrus fruits, grapefruit, tropical fruit, orange. Taste: lots of fruity hops, citrus, tropical, orange, grapefruit, sweet malt, caramel. Pretty bitter but pleasant, touch of alcohol but overall it’s fairly well hidden, medium bodied, fairly well balanced. A very drinkable DIPA. I’m sure this would have been one of the best beers ever when it was first brewed 9 years ago, still holds up well today.

Canned. Big, big citrus pine nose. Pours golden. Packed full of citrus bitterness but somehow well balanced. The abv is incredibly well hidden.

Tap at Buskers in Rome-Italy with Mortlach. Cloudy amber pour, creamy ivory foam. Nose: sweet citric, cookies, malt. Mouth is an attack of sweet/bitter notes, amber malts, alcohol is quite strong.
