Beautiful orangey-amber colour, with a generous head. Very effervescent.
Notes of citrus, spices, caramel in the nose. Very complex. Sometimes vanilla.
Full bodied and complex, sweet, followed by and explosion of flavours.
Clearly the best.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy orangey amber with a towering head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, floral notes, and some oxidation. Flavour brings out lighter fruity notes, some Belgian yeast, a bit of floral notes, some oxidation, though not really intrusive, and a bit of bubblegum. Fairly complex, though clearly past its prime. I would've loved to try this back in the day. The oxidation is not too detracting, but definitely shows that this would've been better a few years ago. Good stuff, and I'd love to try this fresh if Unibroue were to revive this brew.

750 ml bottle into tulip, best by 07/31/2009. Pours hazy reddish orange color with a fairly dense 2 finger khaki head with good retention that reduces to a thin cap. Some small bits of lacing cling to the glass as well. Aromas of big caramel, molasses, raisins, apple, grape, and spicy yeast. Some nice aromas with good strength. Taste of big caramel, toffee, molasses, biscuit, citrus, grass, and spiciness. Initial taste in the front tastes just like dulce de leche, very unique stuff. No bitterness noticed; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, and spices on the finish for a bit. Medium body and fairly high carbonation; with a creamy mouthfeel with big prickly carbonation as expected for a bottle conditioned brew. No alcohol noticed except for a slight warming after the finish. Very nice drinkability with great balance of flavors. Overall, a very interesting and excellent Belgian ale. Glad I got to experience this because it is now retired.

Bottle with gooovikings in KC. Thanks Jetson! Red orange appearance with an off white head. Spicy caramel, toffee malty, light vanilla aroma with done fruity ester notes. Dark fruity, caramel, toffee malty, belgian yeasty flavor. Dark caramel aftertaste. Pretty good but not as good as their other offerings.

Originally rated June 2005. This newest Unibroue beer pours a cloudy orange-amber with a cream-fizz tanned head. This one does not last long (compared to most Unibroue) but leaves a coat over the brew. The smell of the famous Unibroue yeast is there, mixed in with many spices. Then comes the taste. Seems very complex (like the commercial description), but something bothers me. A huge metallic taste at the finish. Starts dissapearing as the beer warms up. Strong bitterness of grass in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is semi-earthy. Well-brewed, but just not my favorite from Unibroue.

Bottled@EBF2008. Goldeny amber colour with a mediumsized fluffy/creamy head, that leaves some nice lace. Aroma is plum, some caramel malts, spices, mild notes of alcohol as well as some slight wooden and yeasty notes as well. Flavour is dark dry fruits, some raisins, mild alcohol, caramel malts, spices as well as some slight nectary notes.

1st November 2008. Cloudy amber beer. Smooth malt with a pleasing amount of chocolate but dominated by some sour fruit. Dry finish with a pinch of spice. Nice bite from the carbonation. Well joined up.

Bottle marked as best before 01-23-11. Pours with a generously sized, off-white, rocky head, over a hazed burnt orange body. Aroma of tangerine, vanilla, brandy, caramel, fig, grape skin, candied fruit, bread, apricot and light spice. Apricot, clove, brandy, bread, melon (canary), vanilla, creamy alcohol. Very smooth nearly creamy taste that reminds me of older Fuller’s Vintage Ales (2000). Lots of small bubbles, effervescent, dry with a slight metallic note to the finish.

Bottle, 75cl corked. An almost clear beer with nice carbonation, a golden body and a decent off-white head. A touch of cellar in the aroma, with some citrus and spices, dried fruits and quite a lot of fresh fruits. Fruity flavor with both fresh and dried fruits blending in, some citrus and a nice bitterness too. More bitter and slighlty spiced in the finish. Full-bodied and effervescent. Very easy to drink, and quite lovely. (081003)
