Half pint from the cask at The Bear, Oxford. Pours brown with a off white head. Aromas & tastes of dark fruits, coffee, bread & smoked malt. Moderate body. Light bitter finish.

Bière bue au Lamb and Flag à Londres. Robe noire profonde, mousse fine et crémeuse qui tient bien. Nez de malt torréfié, cacao et café, avec une touche de caramel. En bouche, texture soyeuse, malgré le faible taux d’alcool. Du caractère : malt riche, notes chocolatées et caféinées, une pointe de réglisse et note mentholée. L’amertume est bien dosée. Très sympa pour une bière très légère.

Cask at the Iron Duke Mayfair. It pours clear ruby to black with a thick, bubbly tan head. The aroma is earthy toast, toasty, chocolate bourbons, distant waft of fart (although it could have been the guy behind the bar), coffee grounds and a touch of praline. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, dark roasted malt, earthy, slightly dungy, cacao nibs, coffee grounds, light tannin and chocolate bourbons. Finish lingering bitter - dry. Lightish body and bubbly carbonation. Decent, if a touch farty.
