Dark Lager

Black Panda breaks the stereotypes about dark lagers. It turned out great, not sweet, and is wonderfully drinkable and refreshing. You’ll notice roasted malt, which adds interesting notes of roasted coffee beans. The distinct hop aroma of the fine Saaz and the stronger Premiant hops supports a higher, yet not overpowering bitterness, and a pleasant carbonation. We don’t brew this type of beer often, so don’t hesitate to try it – it’s worth it.

Can 50 cl. Pours a dark brown with a reddish hue and a dense and creamy, beige head leaving a solid lacework. Roasty, somewhat dusty aroma with bitter coffee beans. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, roasted coffee and a slight smokiness. Solid bitterness. More Schwarzbier than Dunkel. 210626

(Draft at Muted Horn, Berlin, 14 May 2026) Dark brown colour, almost black, with creamy beige head. Malty, roasty nose with dark bread, coffee and chocolate. Malty, roasty taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, dark bread and a balanced herbal bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well balanced dunkel. Very nice.

Darker brown. Aroma is light herbal hops with hints of roast and black bread. Quite faint. Taste is roasty and hoppy bitterness with very little sour freshness and almost no bitterness. Really rich and full bodied despite being mainly bitter. Also quite smooth on the tongue with not too much carbonation. Alright.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Dark brown colour, thin biege foam rim and aroma of roasty malt, toffee, caramel, dried fruit, chocolate & coffee hints. Taste is sweetish, malty, roasted, with caramel, toffee, dried fruity, bread, alittle chocolate, and nutty earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying malty bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.
