Dark brown color. Aniseed, port, raisins, coriander, dark chocolate subtly wafts from the nose. Dark chocolate, dark fruit, oranges, raisin and chocolate malt smoothly meld together in the mouth. Warming port, brandy, chocolate finish. Decent.

From 75 cL bottle. Pours deep ambe with no head. Aroma is soft raisin sweet, caramel malt and alcohol presence. Flavour is the same in a very mild blend, surprisingly mild given the abv of this. Very enjoyable mellow beer.

Time to put this puppy out of its misery. 0.75L caged corked bottle unleashed itself with a subdued “pop” of the cork. It seems the yeast cake at the bottom of the bottle aged without incident. It poured clear dark ruddy brown with dark tan head. The aroma is nice and fruity with initially lemon then Concord grape and boysenberry jelly. With a long draw on the nose I picked up vague spices, some yeast and then a hint of alcohol. With a bit of age on this beer the fruit notes tasted very well blended together. I taste grape jelly, sweet berry jelly and then some blunted lemon ‘used to be’ tartness. Just after the lemon-ness fades a yeasty somewhat funky flavor is revealed as well as a faint hint of alcohol. Very tasty indeed. Purchased at Lueken’s Liquors in Dunedin, FL for $7.99. May have to get more.

Nose of Lots of dark fruit, spice, and caramel, lightly hazed dark brown with a tan head; flavor is spicy with nutmeg, caramelly, with fruitiness, probably figs and dates and some alcohol warmth which lasts into the finish. Different from the 2004 which I had a week or so ago!

Bottle, 75cl corked, thx to thewolf. Pours an almost clear, brown body with a dense beige head. Sweetish nose with caramel, dried fruits and some alcohol. Dried fruits starts the aroma, with sugary sweetness, maltyness, roasted malt, caramel and a little touch of cellar following. Considering the age of the bottle, the cellar flavor is probably due to that. It has an effervescent, warming full-bodied mouthfeel and a flavor with cellar, sweetness and some canned fruits. Pleasant beer, quite a lot better than its older brother, but I find it better when fresher. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. 080301
Bottled at RBESG-06, GTN. Reddish-brown, unclear beer with a beige head. Raisins, prunes, spices, roasted malt, baked apples and alcohol in the aroma and flavor. The flavor has a bit more spicyness though. Full-bodied beer with some alcohol in the finish. Lovely. Rating: 8-5-8-4-16-4.1. 060826
Bottle, 75cl corked. An almost clear beer, dark brown color, and a small, off-white head on the top. Celler, dried fruits and some spices in the aroma, a faint roasted note too. The flavor is on the malty side, with dried fruits, cellar and some roasted notes, a little spice touch and bitterness too. Full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Bitter and sweet finish. After years, still a really nice beer. 091230

Bottled. Dark amber colour, not much head. Plum, glue and alcohol in nose. Flavour is semiroasted, strongly caramellish and syrupy. Dark fruits and sugar also noteable. Wellbalanced and pleasant to drink.
