Orange What AKA Mandarina is a bright golden ale brewed with fresh and dry orange peel. It has been brewed using the fruity and citrussy hop Mandarina Bavaria to give a distinct tangerina flavour, a floral aroma and a smooth subtle bitterness with a soft sweetish finish. Cask stillage at the Grape and Grain Spring Beer Festival 2012, Crystal Palace. Amber/orange pour with a white head. Citrus and pineapple aroma. Sharp citrus flavour, orange marmalade in there too. Long fruity finish.

Cask at Baker Street, Wetherspoons, London. Orange/gold coloured pour with small white head on top. Orangey aroma. Tastes thin, slight orange, sweet, malt. Bland.

Cask @ Counting House, JDW. Clear light golden colour, white head. Aroma is citric, wheat. Flavour is sweet and tropical fruits, wheat. Fruity finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 5/04/2011. Deep amber with no head. Sweetish, orange squash and grainy malt aroma. Flavour was similar, with plenty of tangerines and a rather watery finish. Dull.

From cask at Willow Walk. Pours cloudy orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is mild citrusy fruity. Bitter, citrusy, light toasted malty and slight breadish. Bitter and dry finish.

Cask from Dove Steet Inn, Ipswich. This was surprisingly good, with delicate orange/citrus aroma, and good apprearance and taste - not my regular preferred style of beer, but as a change, most enjoyable.

Cask at the Harp. Pours clear, copper-gold with a fine, white film. Light wheat and orange citrus aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet, bready with astringent, orange rind bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finish is dry and astringent with some doughy malt notes. So so.

Cask at the Evening Star, Brighton on 9th December 2009. Untypical for a wheat beer = Crystal clear gold with off white foamhead decaying to a ring. Sweet malty aroma then fruit and spice notes on a zingy mouthfeel with a finish of rather short duration. Flavour did not quite match the strength of 4.2%, but beer fairly drinkable.

(Gravicask at Bree Louise, Euston, London, 4 Aug 2009) Golden colour with an amber hue, brief white head. Fruity, slightly wheaty nose with notes of orange peel and a slight sourness. Fruity taste with smooth hints of orange and wheat. Mild bitterness in the finish. Thin body, smooth, with balanced sweetness. Different but drinkable.

[Gravity cask at Chippenham Beer Festival 2009] Grassy hops, just a hint of orange, slight fizz and a subtle bitterness in the finish. Delicate, refreshing and very nicely done. Good stuff.
