Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe. The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Copper/orange colour, faint white head. Lots of green apple and hop and yeast. OK in mouth with apple/yeast/hop finish. Dusty with a touch of caramel. Not a big fan

(Bottle 50 cl) Very dark amber, very hazy with almost no head. Nutty, lightly sweetish aroma. Rather dry with notes of nuts and caramel - weak yeasty flavour. A quite exciting brew. 030905

Light clear brown color, short off-white head. Aroma of english hop, some caramel malt. Taste is little sweet and caramel malty, quite bitter. Bitter and dry palate.

Bottled. Pale amber, small head. Aroma of caramel, apple and some hay. Raw and unrefined, typical Wychwood style malt character. Forgettable.

Amber beer with a nice lively, but small head. Good aroma of malt, apples and grass. Initially round flavour with a strong bitterness in the aftertaste, thanks to the good hops.

Bottle. Dark copper colour. Very small head. Fresh aroma of malt and green apples. Maltyand bitter taste and aftertaste. Not very different from other bottled ales. Good session beer, though.

(500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark). Amber colour, moderate head. Lovely hoppy aroma, hints of heather, tobacco and spices. Flavour is nutty and biscuity, a hint of toffee but not really sweet, good bitterness which lingers in the aftertaste. Very nice.

A very nice flowery hops aroma. Tan with a light brown head. Hops are much lighter in flavor - suprisingly mild but with a full body. A very nice bitter.

A deep amber beer with a fine golden head. The aroma is lovely hoppy with notes of grass. The flavor is caramel-malty with notes of fruit, flowers, and hops. A nice beer.
