Dark ruby color with a fine tan head. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium light body and a soft carbonation level. A bit to sweet texture. Sherry-ish, fruity and toffee in the flavor.

Handpump at Wenlock Arms in London. Black pour with little reddish ruby highlights, little off-white foam. Nose: red ripped fruit, ripped apricot. Lovely. Mouth: easy, macerated red fruit, leather/dust. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Handpull cask at the Kingston Arms, Cambridge. Dark brown, just a bit translucent, with a creamy head. Smells of liquorice with a bit of chocolate malt. Taste is sweet, almost sickly, and shot through with syrupy liquorice. Medium body with natural carbonation on the short finish. Just too sweet for me, although I can certainly tell that it’s well-made.

Dark beer with a beige, bubbly head. Mine looked a bit flat and the head disappears but that’s a bit misleading. Malty chocolate dominates the smell and the flavour. Feels a bit watery both in the mouth and the finish but it’s decent enough.
