A well balanced dark mild ale with some bitterness, full bodied, but not overly sweet. An award winning mild that delivers a light fresh taste to one of the more traditional of beer styles.

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 10 Aug 2007) Almost black colour with brownish notes. Slightly roasted nose with notes of wild berries (blueberries). Roasted taste with dark fruit, wild berries, caramel and hints of chocolate. Fairly dry, rather thin body, modest bitterness. An ok mild.

Cask (handpump) @ Wellington, B2, Birmingham. Clear dark red brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, caramel, light port, dry fruits. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. (Hop bitter and sweet). Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat.

Cask at Rook & Gaskill York 5 May 06. Extremely dark red. A shortlived head. A bit watery - but a lot of taste considering the strength. A good mild.

Cask at Catford Beer Festival. Dark ruby in colour, nice burnt malt nose, slightly acidic in mouth. Good bitter finish, a pretty good mild overall
