Our golden honey beer is the perfect introduction to fine ale as it expertly balances both bitter and sweet flavours. It is made with Cornish water; whole-flower Celeia, Northdown and Aurora hops; honey; malted barley and wheat; and Skinner’s unique yeast.

Bottle shared at the pre GBBF chriso’s tasting day 2 07/08/2016. Many thanks to Colin for this one. Aroma is a clear golden coloured pour with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet honey, diacetyl, toffee, brambles. Flavour is composed of sweet toffee, honey, earthy grassy hops. Palate is sweet, moderate carbonation. Mineral. Meh.

Sampled @ ChrisO Pre-GBBF Shindig. Slightly hazy golden color, average sized white head. Not a lot of aroma. Taste is faint as well, soft malts, soft bitter, slight buttery hints. Low body and carbonation. Meh.

Bottle from the Bottle Bank. Appearance - golden amber with a nice fluffy head. Nose - soggy branflakes, but not in a bad way. Sweet creamy malt is what I’m trying to say. Taste - toffee and biscuits. Some nuts. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a nice dry biscuity finish. Overall - it’s not special but it’s decent. Not sure where the honey was. Hidden in amongst the caramel notes, and probably just as well as this beer as come out fresh and drinkable unlike some honey beers.

500ml bottle: best before 16 Nov 2012, poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 25 Oct 2012. Light amber body when held up to the light source, dull amber in the shade: with an impressive head of off-white foaming bubbles no matter where the glass is sat. Definate honey presence in the nose and taste: semi-sweet malty molasses can also be found in the aroma and flavours: the hops don’t hide though, they come to the fore towards the end of each gulp with their bitterness and dryness. They also add a fruity, spicey aspect to the smell. The balance between the honey sweetness and the hops bitterness is nicely done and although I’m not normally a ’honey beer’ fan this was fine. A good blend and I’d love to have a cask conditioned one.

Great nose, good fruity taste, no real honey as the name suggest. Dry finish.
