Abbey dubbel made for the GB supermarkets, very cliché, with a caramelly character adorned with some liquorice and some roasted bitterness in the finish. Low profile and probably an alias of Saint-Benoît Brune..

Nice Belgian dubbel beer. Sweet, but not overly sweet. With some dark fruits and spices. One of the first more special beers I ever had.

Bottled. Dark brown colour with mediumsized brown head. Chocolate, malts, some raisins and some roasted notes in the aroma. Flavour is the same, but feels a bit flat. Didn’t age well.

Red brownish ale with a thin off-white head. Light malt and non descript caramel. More intense nutty caramel with good initial hop bite. But overall, very plain and unidimensional, astringent, becoming cloying as it warms up. May 2005. 81 eurocents.
