Cask @ White Swan, Hebden Bridge. Clear copper-gold with a thick creamy head. Has a drab malty-bitterness with grainy chocolate to finish. Has a grainy-malty nose.

Cask. Deep amber colour, small off-white foamy head. Aroma is toffee, caramel, some flight fruity and floral notes to it. Flavour is very similar with also some nutty notes kicking in.

Hand pulled pint in my local Wetherspoon’s pub: 19th Dec 2011. The beer poured a mahogany brown colour with a good off-white head on top. The smells were weak, some malty molasses and caramels with hints of Christmas type spices. The taste was as the aromas but bland and boring, the beer being a poor, soft bitter with no life or umph. Almost didn’t finish it: but at £2.35 a pint I felt duty bound to neck it. Not be having another.

Appearance Dark amber brown, thin dense white head, good lacing.
Aroma Caledonian popcorn malt aroma, some caramel malt, faint hint of spice.
Taste Typical Caledonian malt, some bitter hops, bit of roasted malt, metallic - darker, poorer version of Deuchars
Palate Soft carb, thin body. Finish - cereal malt with a bit of a bitter and sour metallic tail.
Overall Not great. Not one of their best.

Cask @ Sir Walter Scott, JDW. Amber colour, medium off-white head. Nose is caramel malts, slight sourness, bit of fruits. Flavour is light caramel malts, a bit creamy, sour fruits, slight bitterness. Slightly dry and bitter finish. Decent enough.

Cask Dark chestnut; B.C. "H.". Sweet malts, bread, cacao powder. Nice hops!! Sporting an original flavour of holly leaves - appropriate! Ends wry, nearly tart. Dry-out effect! What is this? In the aftertaste, I get acorn, and yet again bitter cacao powder. Light to medium bodied. Nice beer, as light as it may be.

Cask @ Coal Hole, London WC2R. Dark golden brown color with a beige head. Mild fruity aroma. Malty taste, some caramel and tasty fruit malt.

Cask handpull at Argyll Arms, London Xmas Pub Crawl. Chestnut colour with tight lasting beige head. Some caramel and tasty fruit malt. Flavours are a bit thin in mouth. Bit of sulphur. quite soft in mouth. Definitely needs more flavour.

Cask conditioned at The Old Thameside Inn, Southwark, London, Christmas 2004. Dark brown colour, moderate head. Malty and sherry-like aroma. Flavour is nutty, caramel, treacle. Decent. Finish is a bit watery.
